BoardTools docs

Welcome to BoardTools

Everything you need to run board meetings, votes, minutes, and your member directory in BoardTools — task by task, in plain language.

BoardTools is where your board's governance actually happens: scheduling meetings, building agendas, running votes, recording minutes, and keeping your member directory straight. These docs are organized the same way you think about your job — by what you're trying to do, not by what's under the hood.

Everything here describes BoardTools as it works right now. There's no version picker to worry about, because there's only ever one BoardTools: the one you're signed into today.

What do you want to do?

  • Getting started — sign in, create your board, and get it set up.
  • Meetings — schedule a meeting, build the agenda, track RSVPs and attendance, and run the meeting live.
  • Votes & ballots — open a motion, cast a ballot, and record the result.
  • Minutes — record, approve, and finalize the official record of a meeting.
  • Members & roles — invite people, understand roles vs. positions, hand off a role, and manage privacy.
  • Documents — your document library, governing documents, version history, and acknowledgments.
  • Tasks — action items, assignment, due dates, and overdue flags.
  • Notifications — what shows up in your bell icon, and how email/text delivery works.
  • Your profile & account — your name, switching boards, and signing out.
  • Settings — board-wide governance defaults and branding, for chairs and administrators.
  • Search — finding anything on your board in one box.
  • Changelog — what's new, most recent first.

Good governance tip: bookmark this site. The best boards treat "how do we do this?" as a five-second lookup, not a monthly reminder from the chair.

Reaching these docs from inside BoardTools

You don't have to remember this address. Inside your board, open the account menu (your name, bottom-left on desktop or the avatar on mobile) and choose Help & docs to open this site in a new tab. Many screens — meetings, the member directory, votes — also carry a small Learn more link that jumps straight to the matching page here.

Can't find something?

Use search (the box at the top of every page) — it matches how you'd actually ask the question, like "how do I run a secret ballot" or "who can see my home address." If a page is genuinely missing, ask whoever administers your board to raise it with the BoardTools team; every user-facing change ships with a docs update, so gaps get filled fast.
